🌱 Youth! Let's Create Environment and Climate Change Awareness!
Together, we will build environmental awareness, take action to protect the environment, and combat climate change. 💚
Finally, the day has come - mobility to Sicily. The prepared suitcase was waiting for its moment. At the Catania airport, we noticed the faces of our friends, who until now were only virtual figures on the computer screen. Now, they have become the faces of real friends.
Agrigento welcomed us with its charm - historical monuments, the scent of the sea, and the hospitality of our hosts.
It's a beginning that promises a lot - friendships, learning, inspirations.
We got to know the host high school and established initial contacts with the project participants. We expressed our expectations regarding the project, intending to verify them at the conclusion of our mobility. Our primary goal is to break the language barrier, broaden our knowledge, and gain new experiences.
Subsequently, we delved into working on our topic - water! The hosts introduced us to the subject matter, presenting research findings on "Use of Water Resources and Sustainability." Working in groups and observing how water sustains life in agricultural areas of Agrigento allowed us to grasp the importance of water resource management and the consequences of excessive utilization.
We want to take you to the magical Garden of Kolymbethra, a true paradise for nature lovers.
Kolymbethra Garden - an oasis of tranquility. This stunning botanical garden is located within the Archaeological Park of Agrigento. It was established in 1998 and covers an area of about 5 hectares. As you enter, you'll be enchanted by the diversity of plant species, including fruit trees, aromatic plants, and herbs.
Welcome to the realm of birds.
Kolymbethra Garden is also an important sanctuary for birds, providing them with a refuge. You'll hear their songs and witness beautiful bird views. The water flowing through the garden is supplied by an irrigation system connected to a nearby channel, adding to the charm of this place.
Nature in all its splendor.
The garden is open to visitors, offering the opportunity to marvel at its beauty and take a relaxing stroll amidst lush greenery. It's the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse yourself in close contact with nature.
Discover the fascinating world of hypogea!
What are hypogea? Hypogea are mysterious underground structures carved into rocks by ancient inhabitants. They served as water reservoirs, cult sites, as well as having defensive and burial functions. Their applications were incredibly diverse, and their construction and design continue to be an enigma for modern-day scientists.
Preservation of valuable water resources: One of the primary purposes of hypogea was water storage. In areas where access to drinking water was limited, hypogea played a crucial role in ensuring stable water supplies. Thanks to their specific shape and location, water stored in hypogea was protected from rapid evaporation, allowing for the conservation of this precious resource and preventing wastage.
Contemporary research and environmental significance: Research on hypogea is still ongoing, and their importance in the context of environmental conservation is increasingly recognized. Thanks to their specific construction, many plant and animal species have adapted to life in these conditions, making hypogea important environments for biodiversity. Their role in water management also serves as inspiration for modern-day efforts towards water conservation and the protection of natural resources.
We are impressed by how much we can learn in such a short time, collaborating in groups and sharing our experiences.
We eagerly look forward to the upcoming days. See you tomorrow!
Ahead of us lies an unforgettable journey into the world of fascinating discoveries and dedication! Right from the early morning, we are immersed in the topic of water, which has captivated us into a whirlwind of passionate research.
The research groups have taken on three exciting topics: Utilization of Water Resources and Sustainable Development, Let's Protect Our Waters, and Water and Life, Water Pollution, and its Effects. Each group was tasked with delving into the mysteries of these issues, understanding their causes and consequences, and proposing innovative ways to protect water.
In the linguistic lab, a creative frenzy filled the air. The first group, armed with creativity and the Canva.com tool, transformed their presentations into true works of art - inspiring newsletters, brimming with captivating visuals that will undoubtedly awe the readers.oposing innovative ways to protect water
Equally committed were the participants of the second group. They utilized their language talents to weave the topics into an English text that captivatingly captured the essence of their research. Creating a presentation in the form of dynamic slides using Google Docs, they immortalized the most beautiful moments in the photos from the previous day.
As for the third group, equipped with a camera and boundless creativity, they crafted an extraordinary video with subtitles. Their visual narrative, built upon authentic photos and footage, will inspire viewers and serve as a reminder of the importance of caring for our waters.
But the excitement doesn't end there! Unforgettable experiences await us as, after the morning research session, it's time for a fascinating stroll and exploration of the historical center of Agrigento. Our expedition led us through ancient Arab quarters, where we beheld the marvelous interiors of Santa Maria dei Greci church, marveled at the beauty of the cathedral, and immersed ourselves in history during a visit to the Pirandello Theatre. The walk along the picturesque, narrow streets of the old city added the perfect finishing touch to this extraordinary experience.
The third day of our project has passed, full of excitement. We had the opportunity to present our preliminary results of our work. To maximize our chances of success, each group was given extra time to meticulously refine their presentations.
The presentations lasted for 10 minutes each, allowing us to fully appreciate the effort put in by every team member. It was inspiring to witness the exchange of knowledge among us.
In the second part of the day, we visited the stunning Scale dei Turchi in Realmonte. The mighty white cliffs and beautiful beaches added to our experiences. Throughout, we admired the views with enthusiasm, engaging in discussions about the geology and history of this unique place.
The whole day was filled with inspiring experiences. We learned about effective teamwork, creating engagin presentations, and explored cultural diversity. This day also provided us with an opportunity for reflection on the impact of our activities on the natural environment and the need to protect and respect nature.

Today's day of our project "Plastic Free - Recycling plastic found in the sea" was filled with inspiring activities, and one of them was particularly important - beach cleanup and fighting against plastic in our environment!
In the morning, at school, we participated in interesting workshops prepared by the organization Plastic Free, where we learned about the consequences of plastic pollution for our seas and oceans. Plastic Free is a volunteering association whose goal is to inform and raise awareness among as many people as possible about the dangers of plastic that ends up in the natural environment.
After the workshops, we took our actions outdoors and headed to the beach, where we took on the challenge of cleaning up and collecting plastic waste. It was an important lesson about the consequences of our actions and how vital it is to care for our nature.
In the evening, we admired the beauty of San Leone, a delightful seaside town in Agrigento. We spent time strolling, contemplating what other actions we can take to ensure our project has a lasting, positive impact on our environment.
And that's not all the surprises! Each participant received a certificate of recognition for their active involvement in the project and dedication to the fight for plastic freedom! It's a wonderful honor that motivates us to continue our efforts for the sake of our planet.
Saturday was full of valuable lessons, emotions, and dedication. Thanks to the Erasmus project, we are learning how to take practical actions for the protection of our planet, the reduction of plastic, and the restoration of ecosystems. We are determined to continue our mission and bring about positive changes in our community.
The day of departure was bittersweet as we bid farewell to the wonderful experiences and memories we created during our time together. We packed our belongings and exchanged heartfelt goodbyes with our newfound friends from different countries.
Reflecting on the project, we realized how much we have learned and grown as individuals and as a team. The Erasmus project has been a transformative journey, broadening our horizons and deepening our understanding of cultural diversity and environmental challenges.
Though we are leaving, the impact of this project will stay with us forever. We are taking with us not only knowledge but also a sense of responsibility towards the planet and a determination to make a positive difference in our own communities.
As we waved goodbye to Agrigento and the beautiful memories we made there, we carried in our hearts a renewed commitment to continue our efforts in promoting sustainability, environmental awareness, and global cooperation. We are grateful for this life-changing experience and look forward to future opportunities to collaborate and create positive change together. Until we meet again!
